How about a real low tech approach, which works for me at home....
Connect a 3.5mm socket doubler to the speaker output on your PC,
connect you're speakers to one of these and then connect something
like a Linex FM transmitter to the other (purchased cheap off of
ebay), then tune any hi-fi/radio in the house/garden/garage to the
frequency that the transmitter is using. A bit ghetto but it works,
anything that you're PC is playing to your speakers will be
transmitted round the house.
The Linex transmitter I have runs off a couple of AAs, which are good
for about 100 hours, and has a decent range on it (even through
multiple brick walls).
