Hmm, Speaking as someone who may shortly be taking on a 40 mile each
way commute, I am suddenly interested in such things. 1800 miles a
month in the Thirsty Saab will cost me over 250 quid a month, which is
the equivalent to £5k a year of gross salary.
So yesterday evening I started browsing for 'sporty diesels' - the 1.9
Saab diesel makes 150bhp and shedloads of torque, and should deliver
45mpg I reckon. I've also been looking at the Alfa 156 TD.
So, where is this 'other place' of which you speak?
