WWII. WWI. Boer War. 100 years War.

None of which were done for religious reasons (and lets distinguish
here between a 'religious war' like the crusades and a war where
opposing armies have pastors..).

Ever hear the German Chancellor of the late 1930's? Or Stalin? Neither
religious particularly (especially Stalin) but both particlarly good at
ranting.

And killing people in the name of their politics.
