There are no legitimate reasons to *post* Google groups [1], nntp
servers - if chosen and set up correctly [2] can be ISP
independent - with the server I use I could connect with it and
post through it were ever I am in the world as long as I have a
internet connection that allows me to use the ports usually used
for nntp traffic. So no, I'm far from being brain dead like so
many Google groupies are.

Try finding a clue, have a ganger at for some of the many real
reasons that any intelligent person would avoid Google Groups,

[1] an odd message might be in order, such as when a nntp server
is down and a regular poster want to inform a group as why they
are absent, but not day-to-day posting like you use it for.

[2] if one is posting from a work place that prevents access to
or the installation of nntp software then perhaps you should not
be abusing your employers IT equipment, they obviously do not
want their employees accessing Usenet.
