Electric motor advice needed please

The motor has broken on our Clarke lathe so I've been looking for a replacement. The switch broke too and this it proving difficult to replace.

The systems runs a 3/4 hp with reverse and a 16mm drive shaft.

I can source a 3/4 hp with 19mm drive shaft and reversing starter at around £180 - gulp

I've thought about just getting a cheap pillar drill and using the motor and one-way switch...

Just wondered if anyone had any other leads/ideas

thanks in advance
