Anyone seen the XJ12, XJ20 and XJ25 mills? How do they compare with the X2

Hi Peter,
If you havn't bought one yet I can recomend the XJ25 with a couple
of caveats. I bought one from Harry123 in Feb and have to say that
I've been mostly pleased with it. The casting are good quality but
the cosmetic finish is fairly poor, after assembly they have obviously
just gone over any dinks with a spray can to neaten it up a tad (some
overspray noticable). All three axis are substantial 2 mm thread rod
with brass nuts, the nuts are backlash ajdustable (if difficult to
reach). The head isn't counterweighted at all so can be a little
tiring to raise a long way. Accuracy is reasonable and I would say
equavalent to the X3 and you have the advantage of the larger more
substantial y axis (far more rigid than the x3). If you are
considering buying one though I would suggest that you invest a
weekend or two taking it apart and cleaning, greasing and adjusting
properly as it makes it much smoother. Only thing other than cosmetic
that I don't like about is that the gearhead is fairly noisy (in
comparison to a belt head mill) and that 1 of the 3 gears is made of
plastic. I think that if it every goes I shall probably just make up
a belt pully instead. If you have any more questions let me know.
Kind regards,
Steve
