It's a low power resistive load with sufficient hysterisis - so put a
diode/rectifier in the heater circuit.
A 1N4005 (1A 600V) costs about 10p, good for up to 50W - a 1N5406 (3A 600V)
will do for up to 150 W, and costs about 20p.
No heatsinks or fans will be needed at these ratings, but try not to enclose
them too much - give them some space and they will last forever.
