I fail to see why you are posting your commentaries on Big Brother to
this newsgroup. This NG is called uk.rec.HUMOUR.

No other reason than I want to. I like this group.
And I do put "BB" in the subject line so that those who don't want to read
it can see what the content will be.

Andrea, I think you and phylkat have done everything necessary to
guard any uninterested readers! Hungerdunger, do bear in mind that
(by its charter, anyway) this NG is not *of* UK humour but rather
*about* it; one could make a case that discussion of BB by two of
its aficionados is right on topic!

And there was me thinking that BB referred to my old cat, who died last
year. She was always known just by these initials. I did wonder how you knew
her!

I obviously don't watch enough telly!

I don't even own one.

Neither do I. Wm..., have any good TV Licensing stories to share?
(Those of you who have a telly and pay the fee presumably don't see
the down side of TVL. Years ago they were fairly polite in the
wording of their notices [perhaps you don't understand ...] and
considered the possibility of no telly by providing a form and a
freepost envelope; nowadays they assume you're skiving, are
threatening, and if one has no telly one has to write one's own
letter and provide one's own stamp. Or ring, and wait ---)

Two of my own, quickly: the enforcers came out to try to catch us
using an illegal telly. They caught the clerk in the shop below
instead (we knew she was watching or at least listening, we could
hear it through the floorboards). We also heard the loud ensuing
row; the owner of the shop of course got sent the bill for the
fine!

And remember when they were 'naming and shaming' skivers by bills on
busses? I spotted one that said there were 6 non-payers on our
street. I nearly fell down laughing, because 4 of those were us --
they were trying so hard to get to us that they sent to four
variants of our address -- and at least one was probably our
next-door neighbour, who hadn't been visible lately; if, as I
supposed, he was off doing a stretch At Her Majesty's Pleasure, he
certainly wasn't illegally watching telly at home! So much for the
hordes of illegal telly watchers.
