"* Control of potato blight traditionally relies on copper-based fungicides such
as Bordeaux mixture (consisting of two chemicals, copper sulphate and calcium
oxide). However, copper is potentially toxic and is banned from food produce
labelled as organically grown."
However, it is also an important micronutrient, with an adult needing
of the order of 1-2 mg per day, and the lowest recorded lethal being
of the order of a gramme. There is effectively NO chance that spraying
the foliage with Bordeaux mixture will cause the tubers to contain
enough to be harmful.
Being careful with tomatoes is worthwhile, of course.
