He was a drip and got the whole lot of them down rather badly at times.
It's "Survive the Savage Sea".
Sorry, I should have given the author's name. He was Douglas Robertson and
their 'adventure' happened in 1972. He and his wife, Lyn, are now dead and
their three children have gone on to other things though at least one still
sails. Douglas Robertson also wrote a manual on survival at sea and Survive
the Savage Sea is something of a classic. I believe it's recommended
reading in schools but might be misremembering about that. Can't remember
the sixth member of the crew, the 'bum', I'm afraid.
