Re: Sometimes people just make you mad!

Suddenly, without warning, Nikki Overton exclaimed (12/9/2007 3:55 AM):
Hi Carol,

The husband is tight and egotistical, the wife is lovely but knows even
less. It ended up costing me £130 the last time one of their horses was
injured because they had no vet and she was sufficiently bad that she
needed a vet. The husband was away working and the wife turned up on my
doorstep crying her eyes out because the neighboring miniature shettie
stallion had broken through and wailed the cr*p out this pony mare.

She is also worried (sensibly) that he
will cost a lot to feed, and need lots of veterinary treatment, I spoke
to her on her own today and she agreed that it might not be the right
horse for them. She's most likely right, but husband won't listen, he
just balled her out for questioning his judgment.

I won't fall out with them, the wife is a really good person- but I shall
be letting him know that although I will help I will only do so if they
get proper veterinary treatment if it's required and NOT at mine or the
other grass liveries cost.

Like I say, the horse is a lovely horse, and I just hope it pans out. I
will keep a quiet eye on the horse as will my other friend who has her
mare on grass livery there too. So hopefully it will turn out ok.

If he cares more about his ego than his horses, he is not a nice man. If the husband is balling his wife out for "questioning his judgment", then HE IS NOT A NICE MAN. She might be a nice lady, but - and this is the voice of experience - she probably has a self-image problem living with a man like this. I know, trust me (no not my hubby, my father).

Personally - and I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this - if I'd done my part to suggest this horse needs medical treatment, and Mr Ego has chosen not to give this horse the treatment he needs, I'd be calling the RSPSA.
