I've just been researching old postings on the ng that I had saved ( to do

where everyone has gone?? there were loads and loads of contributers that
posted every week ( sometimes every day) - is this just a reflection of NG's
in general - has my space and facebook taken over - or are they all over on
Saddle up having virtual tea and toast?? - Must admit i can't be bothered
navigating thru saddle up and all those my little pony twinkle toes big hugs
kissy wissies would really get on my wick ;-)

Anyway - seems a shame thats all...............

Well I'm still here & look at the ng every day (or at least every day that
the piece of string my isp's usenet 'server' is connected to the net is
damp enough to conduct electricity), but I'm surviving on about 5 hours
sleep at the mo & am just too damned tired to post most days.

As a brief catch-up, I still have Bracken (now 17 & still going strong)
but have moved her from the college yard where things were becoming
increasingly difficult due to managerial changes over the last 2 years, to
a former cattle farm, now fully arable, which has a lot of advantages. As
a comparison:-
College yard (2 mins from home, 15 mins from work):-
DIY £20pw, includes:
12' x 12' enclosed indoor stable attached to school,
Turnout,
access to indoor school if not in use\hired out,
discount of hire of indoor school,
access to unlit outdoor school if not in use,
off road hacking (less & less each year due to management changes at
attached college farm, no bridleways, no hills),
locked tack room with heating,
electricity,
water.
Attitude to problems:-
"If you don't like it here, you are free to go elsewhere",
drain for stable reported blocked March 2006 still blocked July
2007.

Farm (10 mins from home, 15 mins from work):-
DIY £30pw, includes:
12' x 15' indoor stable (open barn),
grazing (lots!),
hay & straw,
use of outdoor school (unlit),
off road hacking:
395 acres of fields with headlands all round & hills,
bridleway access to Quantock hills,
nearby racing yard gallop with honesty box.
Locked tack room with heating,
dedicated washdown area,
dedicated food storage area
enclosed kitchen\rest room
toilet,
electricity
water.
Attitude to problems:
"We'll get that sorted right away",
problems fixed with 3 days or fewer.

Can you see why I moved her? :-)
Must update my website with some new pictures....
