Re: What evil things!

Oh hardy ha ha...... LOL

Hey, I was not impressed with the things, Paul was trying to squish the bug
thing and Pointer wanted to get the hell outta there!!

Bit comical really, at least I know what it is no thanks to Steve.

Maybe some gentic experiment exscaped from a secret government lab? wasps
can be nasty once they have a target but that one sounds overly
persistant..more like the things they get in america etc which have been
known to swarm and even kill people.
I'd go looking for a nest..only thing i can think of is that they were
protecting a queen and babies.

Went to the yard today, my other half has taken the plunge to have a go
at riding, which I was dead chuffed about. Last night Pointer was tacked
up, Paul got on and I kept Pointer on a lunge line and the horse was an
absolute star. Considering really I am the only one who rides Pointer he
did follow me orund the field which was quite fiunny. He is a very
forwrd going horse but he so looked after Paul.

Eventually, I released the lunge line and Paul was getting the hang of
reins and lower leg pressure and went round the field twice on both reins
it was fun. Then Pointer had got fed up and promptly walked from the
other side of the field gently with Paul back to where I was stood and
huffed and puffed and we decided to call it quits.

This pony is amazing to think he was broken to drive at 2yrs of age and
now at 6 he is taking on board an utter novice and being so good it was
great.

So today we decided to go back down to the yard Paul tacked up Pointer
following his brief "tacking up" lesson and did really well until a
bloody great big sort of Wasp I think came over and you could see it curl
its backside up and try to sting Point who was mortified and really upset
about it. Both Paul and I were trying to whack the wasp come something
away and it just kept coming back for more. Now I am not sure what they
were Wasp or Hornet type thing but it was determined to put some sort of
sting on Pointer and the other horses were going bonkers round the field
as they were being chased by these things as well.

I took the decision it was too dangerous with these things flying about
which was a shame but for safety I said to Paul it was probably not best.

Anyone else know what these things are, are they wasp, hornets or bot
flies (I thought the flies were totally black?)
