Hello,
Snip
I doesn't really matter what area, does it? If you haven't trained a
horse from basic to advanced level then advice you provide could
potentially mess things up for later on. I'm not saying that its
inappropriate for novices to give advice, however, just for people to
pay attention to who the advice is coming from.
I do agree with you, it it relatively immaterial which area of training you choose to specialise in. However, I did go to college and do it the BHS route; but afterwards I felt that this was a limited and very rigid method of teaching people. I continuously work hard to improve upon my knowledge so that I can effectively help someone. People can either listen to me or not, I'm not offended if they think that I'm wrong and want to try something different. I *DO NOT* and have never put myself out there as an 'expert' on this group or anywhere else. But, I do have experience under my belt (as does everyone, I'm sure) that I can use to help people.
I also agree, it is lovely to watch someone harmoniously floating around the menage and 'in tune' with their horse. But, lets just say that people do not get there completely without help, even if what you consider 'novice' might differ to what I consider to be novice.
I don't feel that I need to pro-offer justification for offering my help to someone who was asking from not just me but everyone.I am sincerely sure that people would offer it to me if the boot was on the other foot.
If no one person had any more experience to draw upon than the next person; and we all had the same opinions, then when we each had diverse problems with our horses then we would all be fumbling around in the dark. It is good to read books, (and I do!!) but from my life experience, sometimes to just need to bounce ideas around with people and see what you come up with together. Not everyone will agree on something, but that's what makes life interesting.:)
I respect your obvious dedication to the classical methods of riding, and I would not once criticise your abilities. I am just not like that with people. As far as I am concerned; good on you and I wish you well with it, but it isn't the route that everyone chooses or wants to take.
Thanks,
Nikki.
