You will never be more than able to make the right decision.
It will hurt just as much each time -- not because you have failed but
because you are a member of the human race who failed him and feel you have
to take some of the blame
There is nothing you can do about that feeling
BUT
You CAN make the right decision at the right time
You CAN fight when there is a fight to be had
You CAN let them go with love and dignity when there is not
That is what you have to be prepared for
You learn to make that decision more precisely
You then learn what your best comforters are.
All of the above is what makes you good at what you are doing
