OK - that's useful info. I was considering updating my old Garmin
Nuvi for
a more up-to-date sat nav with traffic-avoidance, etc. When I saw the Nokia
offer I was wondering whether that was the way to go but your advice puts me
off somewhat.


I've just checked out the Nokia website and it mentions:
"The new Maps menu takes one click to calculate the best way to walk or
drive to your destination. "

Certainly the screenshot isn't the same interface as the one that came
with my phone.

I'll update my phone and see what its like.

I presume, also, that there is no live traffic information/diverted route
facility with Ovi maps on the Nokia either?

I just wonder, however, whether Tom Tom, Garmin, etc will have to start
offering free map updates in order to compete with Nokia.

Hope so because the paid for ones are riddled with inaccuracies.
