Any owner who doesn't at least check that all the bulbs work (which
requires no skill or judgement to determine) is an idiot.
I always get our cars tested along with a service (the service done
first) so that any minor defects such as lamps blowing are fixed first.
You're happy to leave failed lights until a service is due?
No.
But if one fails at the last minute (not that modern lamps often do fail),
it doesn't queer the pitch for the MOT.
Lamps blowing isn't a problem for the MOT - it doesn't need a full retest.
Though anybody who takes it for the MOT with any bulbs out is a bit dim.
(saying that, I had one blow between checking before the MOT and the garage
:-( Fortunately I of course had a spare in the car, and fitted it while the
MOT man was looking at some other bit of the car. (I choose my MOT garages
carefully - anybody who doesn't let me near the car while it's being tested
doesn't get my custom)).
