Re: More EU penalties from our Lords and Masters

I'd have thought that you in particular would be laughing all the way to
the bank with the exchange rate the way it is at the moment. What with
your Olive Oil importing business, your farm in Italy and your consulting
work in Europe.

So you think it's good for business to get paid less, to have expenses
double and to have taxes and other charges double do you? What colour is
the sky in your world?

On the other hand, I am waiting for the rates to improve before sending
money to Europe.

Well, (a) Duh! and (b) You'll have a long wait.

You can vouch for every police dept and police officer in the treaty area
- WOW!

I didn't state, hint or suggest any such thing. Nor can I vouch for
every police officer in the UK. Plod is plod all around the world. You'd
do yourself a favour if you stopped trying to represent me as saying
something that I have not said.

I accept your implied apology there.

Yes, YOU would find it easy to fight a case in a French court, would you
find it just as easy to fight a case in Romania or Hungary?

If I drove there, I'd expect to go there to defend a case that I though
twas worth defending. As it is, I drive in countries that I have a
reason to drive in, none of them more than a day's drive from the UK.

Also what about Mr Joe Average who visits Europe maybe twice a year?

If he can't afford to go back, he'll have to obey the law.

Once the fine reaches the British system, can you honestly see them
returning it to wherever it comes from for an appeal? even if there is a
mechanism in place to do so, which I doubt.

I expect most people to do a calculation. £70 fine or pay a ferry
company £150 + two tanks of fuel or pay for an aeroplane + hire car.
It's then up to them to decide whether to fight a point on principle or
to cough up. Any defence is going to need a lawyer and a translator for
most people.

This is a country that seems to relish receiving rules and regulations
from Europe, and then says to itself, How can we make them more onerous to
the British public?

Bull***.

This government is so strapped for cash that they will agree to anything
that will bring in an income.

Right, so you agree with me but somehow me expressing my disgust at how
the fuckwits have handled the economy is symptomatic of touching a
nerve, eh?

FFS, I'm not arguing with you about the economy. It's down the pan and
sliding round the U pipe.

Then why the "hit a nerve" bollocks?

What I was trying to say (badly) is that this government seems to be
determined to give away all our legal protections. You only have to look
at the European arrest warrant scheme, where the courts have no option but
to extradite you.

What legal protection does someone who breaks the law deserve?
