then sorry, but you don't have a clue.
In your opinion. There are equal numbers of people on both sides.
No. Only those who find reality inconvenient are still in denial. Try
reading what the well informed think, something like "New Scientist"
Scientists keep coming out with contradictory results. Research is still in progress (of which I am playing a small part with distributed computing). Until they know for sure, I will not take any action.
Anyway, what about developing countries such as China?
what about them, exactly
They will not be environmentally friendly for a long time.
They are at the stage we were at decades ago with no regard for smoke belching out everywhere.
so that justifies us doing the same? More excuses.
What it means is we are a small country and what we do has very little effect compared to them. It's as silly as switching things off instead of leaving them on standby, because you save half a watt, then driving a 3.5 litre V8 to work.
For the other points you could do it that way but you risk some people
avoiding tax entirely and you will end with a *very* high rate which voters
would find unacceptable.
Who would avoid tax entirely?
think capital gains for a start. Like having your share ownership in the
company double in value. Few would escape "entirely" but thats hardly
adequate.
Why should you get taxed on capital gains? If I pay income tax for 30 years while working hard, then invest the money, I don't want to be taxed again!!!!
You got taxed on the income and you got taxed on the capital gain over and
above the income. You didn't get taxed twice although getting taxed twice
is perfectly routine (income tax/VAT for instance)
And I disagreee with the bit in brackets.
If you set income at the 75% or more level it would need to be I would go
into building (but not right now) and maximise benefits rather than wages
and realise untaxed capital gains on resale instead of a taxable income.
Anyone with inherited wealth would live off the fat of the land while
paying no tax,
The inherited wealth was earned by your dead relative and tax was paid when he earned it!
there would be a huge incentive to do anything other than
employment. People would probably opt for being paid in shares, getting
taxed once and then getting tax free income. The black economy would
mushroom.
Getting paid in shares = a salary, as does a company car.

Think you're having a bad day?
A man was working on his motorcycle on the patio, his wife nearby in the kitchen. While racing the engine, the motorcycle accidentally slipped into gear. The man, still holding onto the handlebars, was dragged along as it burst through the glass patio doors. His wife, hearing the crash, ran in the room to find her husband cut and bleeding, the motorcycle, and the shattered patio door. She called for an ambulance and, because the house sat on a fairly large hill, went down the several flights of stairs to meet the paramedics and escort them to her husband.
While the attendants were loading her husband, the wife managed to right the motorcycle and push it outside. She also quickly blotted up the spilled gasoline with some paper towels and tossed them into the toilet.
After being treated and released, the man returned home, looked at the shattered patio door and the damage done to his motorcycle. He went into the bathroom and consoled himself with a cigarette while attending to his business. About to stand, he flipped the butt between his legs. The wife, who was in the kitchen, heard a loud explosion and her husband screaming. Finding him lying on the bathroom floor with his trousers blown away and burns on his buttocks, legs and groin, she once again phoned for an ambulance. The same paramedic crew was dispatched.
As the paramedics carried the man down the stairs to the ambulance they asked the wife how he had come to burn himself. She told them. They started laughing so hard, one slipped, dropped the stretcher and dumped the husband out. He fell down the remaining stairs, breaking his arm.
Still having a bad day? Just remember, it could be worse...
