Hi
I'm thinking of going hi tec. Want a GPS that can be moved from one car
to
another easily and quickly.

Tomtom ONE. Can be found for about £100. Has best interface and mount.
Mine works fine with heated windscreen without needing to use an
external antenna.

Seconded, the interface is great and the mount is very straightforward
and takes a couple of seconds to put on and take off (and leaves hardly
any mark unlike the older ones). The TomTom One V3 has the newest GPS
chipset which is excellent (I get a strong signal indoors) and the UK
and Ireland only version is around 100 quid new in the likes of Asda.

Be aware - the TomTom units auto set the zoom level, where just about
every other SatNav on the market allows the user to set it. TomTom has
excellent software, but will only show the road for a few hundred yards
ahead. I prefer The Garmin units - map like display and YOU set the zoom
level.

Agreed. I use the Garmin Streetpilot and am in and out of trucks constantly.
I find it to good at what it does.

For GPS I also use Garmin Vista C. Extremely small memory (26MB) but its
VERY good at what it does.

I concur, my Garmin was excellent, especially the continental software and it
transferred between truck, car1 and car2 in moments although I did have a
permanent mount in each.

Sod's law, the first and only day I left it in the car it was stolen so I'm
looking for another, this time I would like one that comes with a mounting
suitable for motorcycles but I will probably buy another Garmin.
