So it is OK to steer for instance a fully loaded HGV through a busy city centre whilst holding and using a mobile phone - providing they have the HGV licence of course?
So, it's ok to put your seat-belt on whilst driving, just because you've held a car licence for 53 years?
The seat belt operation requires none of my attention and the wearing one is a legal requirement and the operation is carried out at very low speed.
However it requires one to completely lose the use of one hand whilst crossing it over the other which is holding the wheel.
It does, which is why the place to carry out the operation has to be chosen with some care. Pull the buckle down with left hand and push it straight into its socket. Grasp wheel with right hand, take the left off the wheel to allow the belt to drop into place - then finally adjust it.
I had to think about that, because normally it just happens without my attention being needed.
