They would have believed the data from the police mobile camera if
the operator had given verbal evidence. The scientist's invention,
and the claimed accuracy of its data, is a red herring. The CPS
simply offered no evidence and dropped the case.

And if he hadn't had that data?


When you get the NIP, you know where and when the camera 'got' you.

Given an hour, I could produce GPS data (NMEA) to prove I was doing
whatever speed I liked along that road...

I have, the OP as well as the BBC article. I can see nothing on there
that shows it couldn't have been spoofed.

Yes, they dropped the case because of the PC retiring, but even so... are
they saying a PCs verbal evidence would have overruled the GPS data?

Are they saying a PCs written evidence isn't 'good enough' in *any*
circumstances?

Why are PCs within such a short time from retiring sent out on duties
where post-retirement oral evidence in court may be necessary?

Would they have "offered no evidence" on a not guilty to a murder he'd
witnessed?

That "explanation" stinks.

But is administrationally(?) convenient.
