No I'm not. If you reduce the length so they can't carry a singleB) reducing the amount of load if this is needed to ensure that it can be
carried safely
So basically, we end up shutting down any company in the country that
needs to use a single length plate/bar/rod over a certain size even
though they can fit within the dimensions of a standard trailer?
Now you are being silly.
length of 40ft or the weight so they can't carry a plate weighing 25
tonnes, then it's no good to them.
For example, Alcan in Warrington recycles aluminium. The slabs they
produce come in two sizes only, one of them being 25 tonnes. By
reducing the weight which was one of the suggestions above, you've
instantly written off their ability to produce 25t slabs because
they've no way of transporting them on the road.
And what about companies that make things using girders as support?
They need to use a single drawn length as welding is completely out of
the question but by reducing the carrying capacity, you're removing the
ability to move those lengths.
Delivery costs will go up, distribution patterns may need to change,BUT YOU'VE CHANGED WHAT THE VEHICLES CAN CARRY SO ITS *** ALL TO DO
but it's the same for everyone. Look what's happened to the price of
copper recently. No wholesale closures of copper users due to the
price increase, that I'm aware of.
WITH DISTRIBUTION PATTERNS. If the vehicles can't carry the load the
customer is wanting delivered as single peices, then they can't deliver
it. End of.
Stick to pushing that pen/broom and leave those of us who move more
than a few bags of fertiliser once a year in the back of the family
hatchback to the job of shifting proper loads.
