What's he meant to do; not use a car? The fact he got addicted to cars,
as teenagers can do, when young, has meant as he's grown up he's been
unable legally to drive at all. To get anywhere in life, you need to
drive.
I dare say prison is psosibly the only possible method; but unfortunately
he will offend time and time again, due to the fact driving illegally is
different from other crimes, people drive to get places.
Next you'll be spouting from the European Bill on Human Rights. Driving
isn't a right it is a privilege that is only available for those of us who
have bothered to get all of the legal niceties like a driving licence and
insurance sorted first. Anyone else who attempts to drive without being
legal can only expect the law to catch up with them.
Why this guy was still walking the streets after 47 previous convictions
for the same offence beggars belief. I note that he is a druggie too. So
here we have someone who has never taken a driving test who has been
convicted 48 times of driving whilst disqualified and is likely to be high
on drugs. I want people like this off the roads that my family and
friends.
I wont be spouting anything next, actually :-) He shouldn't be on the
streets, true. I was trying to point out that's it very hard to stop someone
driving who perhaps is very used to driving to certain places.
He should definitely be in jail, but basically letting him go free and
saying "don't do it again!" with a slap on the wrist is really just, in his
mind, saying don't get caught again. With ANPR, perhaps he wont be able to
do it for too much longer.
