You might as well say that a good driver would not compromise safety by driving after a hard day at work, or when his tyres were anything but brand new, or when the conditions might be foggy or icy.
There have to be acceptable limits.
There are, as you & I know, and I think they're reasonable ones. Can't see what the fuss is about. .
