So you have your radio turned down fairly low, and don't use a phone very
often.

And because *you* do, it must be so for *everybody*.

Now picture your typical chav, with a crap drum'n'bass CD kickin' and the
subwoofer bending every panel on the car, whose phone is stuck to his face
24x7. Which do you think is going to affect his driving more?

What is so special about a phone that makes it so distracting?

Turn it around completely, if you prefer. Why is it the device not the
driver that is vilified? Surely the attention directed to the road is the
driver's choice? Does it matter if that attention is being diverted to a
mobile, to rolling a ciggy, to programming the SatNav, or to having his
knob sucked by Sharon?
