Yet another cyclist travelling too fast for the conditions, they
must just be over confident about routes they often use.

You post a link to a story about someone flying over their
handlebars and entitle it "...going over the handlebars does not
happen"
Have you now decided to argue with yourself?
"Martin, who lives in Priorswood, fractured two ribs, a finger on
his right hand and a bone in his left wrist. He will be off work
for six weeks. " all without breaking a helmet -amazing!
Was he wearing any chest protection?
good job he was wearing a helmet or he might have added brain damage
to the list.
He said, ?All of a sudden the bike went down. I landed on the
handlebars really hard and crashed onto the road. " Nothing about
striking his head or damaging a helmet, don't you think a used
(busted) helmet would have been included as part of his claim, no
doubt costing £60 or more, if he had been wearing one? Despite his
chest smacking the handlebar it seems he got both hands down, an
automatic reaction to a head first fall, an saved any impact to his
head.
A helmet wearing rider may of course feel protected by the magic cap
and not put out his hands, suffer severe concussion, a split scalp if
not a fracture and could reliably claim Merlin's protection had saved
his life. Duh, ...
anyone that thinks that there are never any crashes where a helmet will save
some or all injury to the head must be really thick or have already hit
their head.
