Don't all your arguements apply to any situation where a head injury
is possible?

Walking up/down stairs is not dead safe and a helmet would reduce head
injuries in the event of an accident. Do you wear one for that? (or is
your brain too small?)

Lots of slips in the bathroom while taking a shower, so you could wear
one there too.
