This is actually another urban myth. The only research showing that the
helmet fit was necessary for protection was from Thompson, Rivara and
Thompson. And if you believe them, can I interest you in purchasing Tower
Bridge, left to me by my uncle, Lord Elpus?
You can't go taking away their only explanation for the obstinate
refusal of cyclists to experience an 85% reduction in head injury
rates when wearing helmets, that's cruel.
I'm reminded always of the Dilbert cartoon:
Salesman: This is our most reliable computer, unless you try to use
software.
It'll freeze several times a day. But you can restart it by
poking a spoon into a hole in the back.
Dilmom: Has that ever worked?
Salesman: We think people are doing it wrong.
