Did that article also mention risk to pedestrians, if it didn't then
surly you should have mentioned it.

Why? The risk to peds is much less than for cyclists. Besides, peds
are discouraged from using public roads anyway, except where no
pavement exists.

The risk to peds is still there, these holes can cause cars, bikes &
trucks to loose control, you don't want to be walking nearby if that
happens.

Yes of course! They could mount the pavement, kill several peds and
knock down the wall of a house. Well, maybe the cyclists couldn't.

These holes can also appear in pedestrian areas, but as the traffic
over them is not so heavy (apart from Mrs Jones next door) they take
longer to get worse.

There are some very rough pavements around which can cause peds to
trip and fall, not that that would bother most motorists.

As for damage caused, cyclists can put a damage claim into the council
the same as a motorist can.
What happens next will be more about the council than the vehicle the use.

I was clearly pointing out that the article ignored the risk to
cyclists while banging on about the risks to car users.

Oh thats allright then.

Indeed.
