first snakebite puncture

Today was one of those "why didn't I take the car" days. Decided the rain
didn't look too bad this morning so decided to put the waterproofs on and
cycle to work. Got past Warnham station and it looked like it was easing
off. As soon as I got to the A29 the heavens opened, and I mean opened. For
about a minute it absolutely poured down, with water gushing across the road
and pooling at the bottom of every dip. I was absolutely drenched, and to
make matters worse some of the bloody motorists insisted on passing too
close and showering me with water from the road. One even delighted in
shouting abuse at me. I eventually got to work absolutely drenched and of
course the instant I get inside the rain stops.
Comeing back, things were going swimmingly until I got just past Warnham
station, steered to avoid a pothole and immediatly struck a second one head
on. Almost immedately after the rear tyre went flat. As I was less than a
mile from home I decided to walk the rest of the way. Upon changing the
innertube I saw two parallel slits each about half a cm long and 1 cm
separation.
Note to self - must check tyre pressure more frequently in the future
(normally pump tyres up to 120psi).
