Hi
Can anyone name an effective, more environmentally-friendly
alternative to white spirits for use with the 'Sheldon shake'?

Go to Halfords and get their citrus degreaser (1 ltr); biodegradable
eco-friendly, cheap. You can keep the used liquid in a screw-top jar and
re-use the decanted liquid. Wash-out the "bits" in the jar and save
again and again...
I put the chain in a round "Stork" margerine box with the degeaser and
place it in a pan with water in it and boil it for 20 mins. I then pour
the clean boiling water into a plastic bucket with the chain to wash it,
having decanted the degreaser first. Works a treat!
