Sorry, I'm new to advanced bike maintenance. When you say "spacing"
do you mean between the two front chainrings?
Yes, and the thickness of the rings. 5 speed chain is much wider than
10 speed. If you do go ahread, I'd certainly try it first mind and see
if it works before springing for a new chainset.
