Following on from Chris Malcolm's message. . .
It's long past the time when light manufacturers started getting aI beg to disagree. It makes excellent sense to provide both functions in one unit. I have been lucky in having a cheap front light that does both - but I know of many that are poorly designed in many ways. (That's without the poor setting up - what good is a lamp that lights up the road 4 feet in front of your wheel!)
grip on the two very different kinds of light required for 1), seeing
where you're going, 2) letting other people see where you're
going. There's plenty of relevant research. It's daft trying to
combine the two functions in one unit.
