I've absolutely no doubt he would do the same again, but I just
haven't got the energy to bear grudges.

Hearing of another comper winning a prize always makes me happy, even
if it is sometimes tinged with a hint of "I wish it had been me"
(which didn't apply in this case as although I did several entries to
the comp, I didn't enter for the Machu Picchu prize)

Even if the winner is, as you suggest, a drug dealer, rapist or thug,
if they have entered fairly and honestly in a fairly run comp, then
they have as much right to their prize as anybody else. If everything
in life happened according to how deserving people were and how well
they lived there lives, you would never see good, kind people dying
slow painful deaths from cancer, would you? The good people would get
all the goodies and the bad people would get the misfortunes.

I'm getting too philosophical - must be the weather. What I'm trying
to say is that Lady Luck doesn't look at the rest of your life when
she's dealing the cards.
