Can cross-posts be blocked?

As per the subject - is there a way to block cross-newsgroup postings? that
is, all postings which have been copied into several newsgroups. I don't use
the ng very often, are they on the increase? The language in the recent ones
have been far too bad for my liking and I'm afraid my kids may see them. Any
advice?
