My doors on my 3dr golf have dropped slightly. The rub strips on the door
and the quarter panel are not at the same level and the gap around the
door is not the same. I understand that this is a very common problem
with 3dr golf's, the hinges cannot cope with the weight of the doors.
Have also heard that the doors can be lifted upwards to try and bend the
hinges back into their original position. Thing is, I am a little weary
of how much force I can apply when lifting the doors. Could I break
something if I lift up too hard?
Put new hinge pins in. You can tell if they're fucked because the door drops
when it's opened. If it's closing at the wrong height, you need to loosen
the pin on the B pillar, move it up a bit and retighten it. You still need
to do the hinge pins as they can cause unexpected things to happen. Like
doors popping open over bumps.
