I've been searching the web for a clue to water in the driver footwellHeater blower working on only high power usually means a resistor has burnt
(only) of my 2000 Sharan 1.9 110.
I found a few refs. to blocked drainage pipes at the base of the
windscreen. But my Sharan does not appear to have any pipes/ holes or any
other channel. Water just goes down the back lip at the back of the engine
compartment and appears to run out down the back of the wheelarch covers.
The footwell does not seem wet far up the back anyway- the damp is quite
bad for about 3cm up the carpet at the back- not even to the gas pedal
stop. There is certainly no dampness at high level, around the fuse box or
through the door/ window seals.
Any clues with that one?
Another problem- and the one that got me going in the first place, is that
the heater has stopped working but only in positions 1 and 2 on the
switch. Coupled with the dash lights around the radio/ heater switches. I
have checked every fuse, because I can't make sense of the diagram to work
out which ones it might be! They all appear OK.
You seem a helpful lot- any chance of any of you knowing what I should do
next?
Thanks.

out that controls the voltage to the lower settings, usually found near the
motor itself or behind dash somewhere, and ......................
Copy and pasted from an earlier thread re Passat water in footwell, could
hold some ideas??................
Cause could be blocked sunroof drains (if you have a sunroof) - these areIt could also be leaking from around the door rubber or possibly if the door
located in the door shut at the front of the front doors - you'll see some
flatted off rubber pipe sticking out the bodywork - give these a squeeze &
see what comes out.
Alternatively it will be blocked drains under the battery causing the
whole battery compartment to fill with water which then finds its way into
the car. There are two drain points, one right under the battery & one
more or less under the servo. To fix you need to remove the battery and
the tray it sits on before you can get access to the drain points which
may well be blocked. You should check these every 6 months at least -
especially if you park your car anywhere near trees that drop leaves.
Lastly, there some quite deep wells in the floor under the carpet so I'm
afraid to say there will be a lot more water under there than you think.
You really need to lift the carpets if you can. I Hope your CCM isn't
fried - I'd suggest you disconnect the battery to drop the power to the
unit until you get the car dried out & then keep your finger's crossed.
Worst case you'll need a new CCM.
When you reconnect the battery switch the ignition on & let it sit for a
minute or two to let the ECU re-establish itself before you try and start
the car again.

inner water membrane has been punctured/torn, water will run down the window
inside the door, through the membrane and out the bottom of the door card.
If you do have a sunroof, check the headlining as it could possibly one of
the (already mentioned) drain pipes having actually popped off the drain
tube in the sunroof outerskin itself - happened to my MK III Golf Gti -
couldn't understand why the drivers seat was wet on occasions!
Don't know if the Passat is similar to the golf where under the bonnet -
just infront of the windscreen- under the plastic scuttle you'll find the
pollen filter that will allow ingress of water if the scuttle's drain pipes
are blocked (might be same scenario as previous post's battery tray?)
