Chips with everything...

Fellow Petrolheads, I am about to part with my much loved and modified
Audi S3 this August, to be replaced by an Astra VXR. My question is how
soon should I take the new car down to the chippers for its treatment.
If I had my way I would drive there on the day of delivery but am aware
a school of thought exists that advocates a period of bedding in. The
S3 had her Revochip uploaded via the serial port after 5k miles,
measured on a rolling road it delivered 267bhp and 311lbs/ft without
further mods. The question is how long can I suffer a measly 240bhp
before I take the VXR to the chip shop.
