Not really a fair comparison, since the MK2 and MK5 Astras would have
been in different classes had they existed concurrently.

'07 Mk5 Fiesta 1.25 - 142g/km

That's really impressive, though; the 07 Fiesta is a much larger,
safer, quicker, better equipped, cleaner and more comfortable car

Umm, isn't the point rather that that the entire market has grown and
larded up, therefore they ARE direct replacements and thus comparable?
