I've done countless windows for limousines and never had a problem.

I think this bit may have some influence over your success.

quite possibly.. but everyone has to learn somewhere.

Doing it for the first time, you're bound to *** it up.

anyone with a bit of sense will experiment with an offcut /before/ trying
to cover a whole window.

Partially influenced by the cheap *** 'Max Power' film sold on
ebay.....

which I've used on limos before now... yup it's ***, but it works.

If it were so easy, you wouldn't see so many cars driving around with
bubbled up, creased and peeling film.

That's mainly caused by bad preparation of the glass combined with a
"That'll do" mindset and not bothering to take the windows out to do the
job properly. Laziness, to put it bluntly.

Thing is, you can get most cars professionally done for £<200 quid anyway.

Was quoted ~£350 for 5x windows in my Xtrail!

Have had a go with £20 worth of DIY film and couldnt get anything like the
professional finish that I wanted, so guess I will have to bite the bullet.
