Noisy, slow and uncomfortable. Whereas a Passat or similar is incredibly
comfortable, loaded with kit, quite fast if you pick the right one,
doesn't need to be thrashed and is barely above tickover at 50mph.

It's only a 1lt, though. If you go for a sensible sized engine in a Polo
- like the 1.4 16v, then the insurance will rocket significantly. Hard
to compare mine with yours, as you haven't disclosed points mileage or
business cover....

But that's comparing a mid-spec barge with a poverty spec supermini. If
you went for a loaded supermini and re-costed things, you'd be
surprised...... I'd never go back to driving poverty spec small cars.

As per the other response.

Total cost of ownership comparing large to small cars, taking into
account what you get for your money on initial purchase cost, is very
little indeed on a per mile basis.
