Yesterday I finally got round to replacing the CV joints and track rod ends
on the Micra, and I've only had the parts six months.
I prepared myself with a 3' iron tube, for ratchet-extending purposes, and a
proper screw-type ball joint splitter. The hub nuts were easily removed
thanks to the tube and the track rod ends were a joy to take apart. *So*
much easier than the fork-type splitter I used to use (and break).
Even getting the CV joints off was easy and didn't take *too* much hitting,
even though this was the part I was not looking forward to at all.
Everything went back together just fine and the front end feels nice and
'new' again - not like it's held together with bungees.
Back of my neck's burned to buggery though!

I know exactly what you mean. I had to get the wheels off my motorbike
at the weekend,
I managed to find ALL the sockets/ spanners/ useful bits and pieces I
needed.
It's so much better when you don't spend 30 minutes looking for
something or improvising !
I was thinking it's time to upgrade to one of those 'professional'
type ratchet handles at some point.
