I sometimes see faint whisps of vapor, where the seal between my
bayonet adaptor and the acme screw is less than perfect. I'm not
overly concerned about it (I doubt it represents a measurable volume
of liquid), but I keep meaning to smear a bit of silicon grease on the
rubber o-ring. If you are seeing liquid as you fill, then something is
badly amiss either with the pump nozzle, or your filler.

It often takes half a minute or so between pressing the pump button,
and fuel being deliverd (I also find some pumps do not zero until
after you press the button, which can be a little disconcerting).
Don't expect delivery always to immediately follow button pressing.
