What generators would you recommend please for general rally use etc.I've got to ask the question, why do you need a generator?
The inverted ones I believe are better? Kipor v Honda I suppose?
Unless you intend to spend ages in one place it's unnecessary and in any
case, there's usually electric hookups on
most sites. If you're on a quiet site with no electric you're probably
amongst other people who also want peace & quiet. Firing up your genny,
no
matter how quiet you believe it is, is going to piss off everybody around
you and for what? So you can watch Eastenders or because you're so
desperate to eat you have to microwave your TV dinner instead of waiting
for
it to cook in the oven.
Boooooooooooring.
enquiry. It still provokes a reaction though:-)
where are the hookups on rally sites? that's all the OP said, he neverEe-up. He said "general rally use etc" which, with the 'etc' I took to be
mentioned campsites, CL's or owt like that,
general use.
depends on the type of rally site i guess, but if it's any i've been toIf I ever get round to it I'm thinking of making a steam powered genny, as
then genny use is normal during daylight hours. I've just built myself a
12 volt generator, converted it to run on lpg, and built it in under my
motorhome's floor, put on a large car exhaust silencer, boxed it in, it's
not silent, but it's not loud either.
much for fun as for serious use. On a camper you've generally got plenty of
access to water and gas and if it's for battery charging you rarely need
'instant' power. It would certainly be quiet and a very small engine
running, say, a 10 amp dynamo/alternator would do all the charging you need
or could run lights etc if you've let the batteries go flat.
it's use... to re-charge the battery bank fast when i'm staying in oneWe too avoid commercial sites for that reason but there are many small sites
place for a long time, like 2 weeks on a stellplatz in germany.
it wont be used on a campsite in england... simply because i don't
frequent them, people who like being herded like sheep are welcome to the
uk site network,
(just fields really) which are unregulated.
i've found it's a lot cheaper to nip accross the channel and stay for freeWot's a stellplatz?
on the many stellplatz's or aire's.
But that's just the point, everyones idea of camping is different, i'mDefinately not. We've 'wild camped' in many places in the UK and France
happy staying on a carpark in germany, a stellplatz by the side of a lake,
on the top of a mountian etc, but i'm not happy on a campsite with
millions of rules and regulations,
i guess your just the opposite, the idea of staying off a campsite is not
one you's entertain
mainly.
, that's fine, i wont come on your campsite and run my genny, you dont comeI just think it's unfair to run a genny if you're somewhere that people go
to where ever i'm parked up to moan about me using a genny where they are
permitted and the only source of power when the sun's not been out for a
few days.
to for peace and quiet. If you're sitting there enjoying the sound of the
wildlife or whatever it's ruined when someone starts making a noise that
intrudes on it.
