Windfarms require that MORE pylons are built as they have to be in out-of-the-way places, a long way from customers. If they have to be built at all, maybe they should be used to power local aluninium smelters to save transmission costs.

It's worth pointing out that the last nuclear power station built, Sizewell B, produces 6 per cent of our electric power on its own, day in day out. A couple of dozen like it would produce all our electric power. As its name implies it is one of two at the site.....
