Ahh, I see where you are coming from but there are a few small flaws with that approach which directs me to the approach I detailed in my post, to whit;Well obviously, but where's the fun in that? You miss all the excitement of tearing your hair out, shouting at the kids, arguing with the wife as to whose fault it was that it got lost in the first place, slamming the door behind you, sulking in the garage angrily banging bits together pretending that you're actually fixing something, creeping sheepishly back to find that no-one was interested in you anyway and hadn't noticed you missing.
1. I have little enough hair already and it's disappearing fast enough that I'm discouraged from tearing it out in case I suffer hypothermia.
2. I only have one child (who may or may not be responsible for point 1) who is too young to have been playing with anything I may have lost (yet), although I'm hoping she takes enough of an interest in my 'stuff' to lose it for me and, therefore, provide me with someone I may blame my incompetence on when she is old enough.
3. I am always at fault in any argument with my partner, she has told me so and this, I have learned through experience is a basic, immutable, law of nature, the right to argue with this law I signed away when I first discovered I enjoy having all of my bits firmly attached to me.
4. I don't have garage, if I did, it would be so packed with junk there wouldn't be space to pick up 'bits' let alone bang them together.
5. I already knew nobody would miss me and nobody was interested in me or what I had to say anyway so the whole effort would be wasted and I'd be better off just walking to the local DIY shed in the first place.
