Re: FAO Colin D :)

Haha...

Actually I'm predominantly an embedded programmer, mostly programming
LonWorks related devices in a subset of C. Keep an eye on LonWorks it WILL
be coming to somewhere near you very soon if it hasn't touched you already.
In between projects I have scripted in Perl, to maintain our company Website
and scripted in PHP to develop various executive reports from our groupware
system etc.
VB6 has its detractors, it is antiquated but in terms of RAD it has its
merits. I have programming experience with C++ and Java but not at a
commercial level.
C is excellent, its a small language and reasonably easy to learn, applying
it to various problem domains is extremely rewarding. In fact, I program in
a subset of ANSI C called Neuron C which is control network oriented. I
wont bore you anymore, but I thought I'd mention other languages I have used
so as not to be typecast as a 'lowly' (some might say) VB6 programmer.
Just for the record, programming in VB6, like other languages, can be as
complex as you like (fucntionally, Im not thinking in terms of OO, as VB6 is
limited in this respect). I think the fact that apps can be created so
easily have given some people the impression that it is some how a lesser
language than others.

The basic semantics of all languages be it scripting/programming languages
are the same. That is, an if statement is an if statement..It

It's pretty impressive, especially the use of sound. Not so much arty
but good graphic design and nice features, such as the scrolling
comment board. I'm wondering whether some bored interns where given
the job. The actual subject matter of the Website is quite pertinent
to me at the moment as I have been lamenting maintaining legacy vb6
applications to my bosses. We also began developing a product from
scratch last year in vb6 when we had Visual C#.Net at our disposal.
Anyone fancy employing a dedicated, competent and human software
developer....

What, who only has VB6 skills ?!? ;)

Honestly, if anyone is interested or knows of any
vacancies in the North west give us a shout...many thanks.
