Hi Alastair,
Thanks for your reply. (and for your custom :¬) )
After a few bits of tinkering with some further firewall rules and
static routes and stuff, I hit the jackpot.... Not quite the
roll-over, but pretty close.
<start of techno waffle>
I am now able to ping every p.c. on the shop lan 192.168.*** from the
home network 172.16.*** (0nly one p.c at the moment.) Haven't got to
the shop yet to try the other way round, but it's looking good.
Only slight hitch I now have is I can't actually "see" the shop
network/PC's on home PC under "Network connections" or whatever it's
called but I can map a drive to each directory which has share
attributes. and Printers too.
i.e. I can't browse for a printer/folder, but can get it by addressing
it \\192.168.0.2\shared data\ etc.
If I try \\server-name\shared data it can't be found.
All the PC's on the 192.168 subnet can see eachother by server name. I
must be missing something obvious somewhere.
Must be something to do with the WINS stuff. I'll tinker a bit nore
this afternoow when I get in.
I have just pointed the WINS server address on client TCPIP to three
192.168 machines including the router.
This PC is now sending a burst of data every few seconds over VPN
presumably trying to get WINS info.
Chaos Theory in practice.
:¬)
Cheers
Pete
