At this time of year, adults are comparatively easy to tell apart.
I based this on the "ID insights" in Bridwatching magazine. At a quick
glance they look practically identical, a little closer and there are
some visible but subtle differences in shading. I didn't notice at first
that this is only for *females* though. The inserts for males show much
more contrast.
I would still maintain that it's not something blatantly obvious (eg
difference between grey and yellow wagtail) ie they're not white ;0).
